The Bronx Zoo is the one that was closest to where I grew up, but I was a little kid back then and I'm sure I wasn't thinking about where the animals came from originally and how they were doing in their zoo lives. This album gives its animal characters a voice - we can only imagine what kind of thoughts Zelda The Zebra or Olga Ostrich may or may not be thinking - perhaps they're having a hard time co-existing with other animals they wouldn't choose to get along with in the wild, or perhaps they may be homesick, the scents and scenery of their native country just a bittersweet memory of days long gone, or maybe some are quite content in their environment and think that regular mealtimes and zoo food is actually quite awesome.
