Composer
Yann Kornowicz
Raised in a family of musicians, Yann Kornowicz was immersed in classical music from an early age, studying the violin at the conservatory for five years. Influenced by his two composer uncles, he discovered the works of John Adams, Steve Reich, Witold Lutosławski, Philip Glass and many of the leading voices of late 20th-century contemporary music. It was during his teenage years that he discovered film music, captivated by its ability to draw upon such a wide range of musical influences, and found the artistic playground that would shape his career.
A self-taught composer, he has developed a distinctive musical language rooted in genre-driven composition and inspired by the sound aesthetics of different eras. Rather than recreating the past, he reinterprets these influences through a contemporary lens, crafting musical uchronias that exist somewhere between hauntology and cinematic storytelling, with a particular affinity for dark, atmospheric soundscapes.
Over the years, he has established himself as a composer for documentaries, advertising, exhibitions and production music, while also working as an artistic director on numerous audiovisual productions. From his Silvercut Studio in Paris, he has developed a highly personal approach to music production, bringing together composition, recording and sound design within a single creative process.
Through every project, he creates evocative sonic worlds where musical heritage, sound design and cinematic storytelling converge, resulting in immersive compositions distinguished by their atmosphere, originality and emotional depth.
