Of Ivory & Horn

Of Ivory & Horn is the solo project of French composer, guitarist and singer Dorian Chamoin. Inspired by Greek mythology, the project's name refers to the two gates of dreams, a fitting image for a musical universe that is contemplative, dreamlike and deeply cinematic.

Initially trained in piano, violin and later guitar, Dorian has developed a distinctive musical language where acoustic folk meets minimalist and impressionist influences. Inspired by composers such as Arvo Pärt and Claude Debussy, he creates music in which silence is just as meaningful as the notes themselves. His fingerstyle guitar playing, enriched with percussive techniques, forms the backbone of delicate, evocative compositions that blur the boundaries between folk, contemporary classical music and cinematic storytelling.

Through Of Ivory & Horn, he explores themes of memory, loss, nature and transformation. His live performances favour spontaneity and genuine human connection, embracing the authenticity of live instruments and vocals over pre-recorded tracks. Music, visual art and poetry also converge throughout his work, extending his artistic universe far beyond the boundaries of sound alone.

Each composition invites the listener to slow down, reflect and become immersed in a sonic landscape where simplicity becomes a powerful form of expression.
