Nicodrum

Nicodrum & Friends is the project of French percussionist, composer and multi-instrumentalist Nicodrum, dedicated to Jamaican music, roots reggae, dub, and the traditional Nyabinghi and Burru rhythms. Passionate about percussion for more than two decades, he has developed a deeply respectful approach to these musical traditions while reimagining them through contemporary compositions for production music and screen.

Throughout his career, Nicodrum has collaborated with some of the most influential names in international reggae, including Touré Kunda, Capleton, Morgan Heritage, Richie Spice, Queen Omega, Jah Mason, Pressure, Willie Williams, Taïro, Blacko and Mo'Kalamity. His close relationship with legendary Jamaican percussionist Skully Simms, a master of the Nyabinghi tradition, has profoundly shaped his musical vision and his exploration of Rastafarian ceremonial rhythms.

With Back to Fundehchan!, recorded entirely using analogue equipment, Nicodrum pays tribute to the Aketeh drum tradition by bringing together a wide community of musicians from the reggae, jazz and world music scenes. He continues this artistic journey through Parigo's original catalogue with the albums Reggae Experience and Dub Experience, where acoustic instruments, melodica, horns and hand percussion combine to create warm, organic and deeply cinematic soundscapes.

Through Nicodrum & Friends, tradition becomes a living source of inspiration. Every composition celebrates the richness of Jamaican musical heritage while reinterpreting it through a contemporary sensibility, resulting in music that is authentic, generous and universally expressive.
