Mister Modo
Mister Modo is a French DJ, beatmaker, producer and dedicated crate digger whose musical universe is deeply rooted in the art of sampling. A passionate vinyl collector since the late 1990s, he has developed a distinctive approach where hip-hop, soul, funk, jazz and film music are brought together through an inspired and meticulously crafted collage of sounds.
First gaining recognition as one half of the duo Modonut alongside Ugly Mac Beer, Mister Modo quickly established himself as one of the leading figures of the French beatmaking scene. Fuelled by an encyclopaedic knowledge of recorded music and an exceptional ear for rare samples, his productions combine organic grooves, cinematic arrangements and instrumental beats with an instantly recognisable signature.
Alongside his work as a producer, he has composed several albums for Parigo's original catalogue, exploring a wide range of musical territories, from hip-hop-inspired compositions and urban soundscapes to more atmospheric and cinematic pieces. With Music for Bugs, his latest solo project, he continues this artistic exploration through a conceptual beat tape filled with rich textures, unexpected loops and immersive sonic atmospheres.
Across every project, Mister Modo celebrates sampling as an art form in its own right, transforming forgotten records into the raw material for inventive, soulful and timeless music.
