Laurent Dury

Laurent Dury is a French composer, pianist and sound designer whose musical universe blends minimalist composition, contemporary orchestral writing and cinematic soundscapes. Classically trained in piano and musicology, he has developed a refined musical language where simplicity, emotion and acoustic depth come together in a deeply contemplative approach.

After working in both France and the United Kingdom, including several years composing for the advertising industry in London, Laurent Dury broadened his artistic vision through extensive travels across Africa, Cuba, Louisiana and Asia. These experiences continue to shape a distinctive musical identity where world influences, electronic textures and acoustic instruments coexist with remarkable naturalness.

Over the years, his work has evolved towards an increasingly minimalist aesthetic, favouring acoustic recording and the creation of immersive sonic environments. As a composer for production music and screen, he approaches every composition as a space capable of supporting a story, an emotion or a landscape. His album Minimal Stories 3, released by Parigo, perfectly reflects this artistic vision through atmospheric, delicate and deeply cinematic music.

Recipient of the 2019 UNAC Grand Prize for Production Music, Laurent Dury continues to explore the meeting point between composition, acoustics and sound design, creating timeless musical worlds defined by subtlety, emotion and a strong sense of place.
