Composer
JB Hanak
JB Hanak is a French composer, musician and visual artist whose work exists at the intersection of music, visual arts and cinema. Since the mid-1990s, he has developed a deeply experimental artistic universe where sound creation and visual expression continuously inform and enrich one another.
Alongside his brother Frédéric, he co-founded the duo dDamage, which has become one of the leading names in the international underground electronic scene. For nearly two decades, the duo forged a distinctive body of work blending hip-hop, techno, noise, breakcore and experimental electronics, building a critically acclaimed discography and performing on stages around the world.
Alongside his musical projects, JB Hanak has continued to pursue an artistic practice in which drawing, painting and illustration play a central role. Characterised by a dense, organic aesthetic, his visual work directly influences his musical writing, making each project an immersive dialogue between sound and image. This multidisciplinary approach has led him to exhibit his work in France and internationally, with pieces entering both public and private collections.
As a composer for film, JB Hanak has developed a longstanding collaboration with filmmaker Olympe de G while continuing to create original music for the screen. His project Hexahedre, created with Cyril Laurent, extends this artistic exploration by combining ambient music, electronic textures, visual arts and immersive soundscapes.
Through each of his creations, JB Hanak embraces a deeply independent artistic vision, where music, image and experimentation converge to create singular sensory worlds, always driven by curiosity, innovation and a constant desire to push creative boundaries.
