Ana Kap
Ana Kap is a trio from Caen that brings together jazz, Balkan music and the spirit of the French guinguette with boundless imagination. Their music recalls a time when jazz was both playful and popular—virtuosic yet light-hearted, made as much for dancing as for listening. Trumpet, accordion and violin weave a vibrant sonic palette, transporting listeners from smoky jazz clubs to riverside dance halls and the brass bands of Eastern Europe.
The trio performs exclusively original compositions, drawing inspiration from the film scores of Nino Rota, the musical world of Astor Piazzolla and landmark albums by Dave Douglas, including Charms of the Night Sky and A Thousand Evenings. Finely crafted compositions leave ample room for improvisation, creating an infectious sense of spontaneity that can carry the listener from laughter to deep emotion in just a few bars.
With its uniquely "polissonic" universe, Ana Kap creates music that is warm, vibrant and full of character, inviting curious listeners of all ages into its world. Every performance becomes the soundtrack to an imaginary film, where poetry, swing and the freedom of improvisation take centre stage.
