Aïwa

Founded in 1998 by brothers Wamid and Naufalle Al Wahab, Aïwa is a musical collective that brings together the rich traditions of classical Arabic music and contemporary electronic sounds. Blending cultural heritage with modern production, the group has developed a distinctive musical identity where Middle Eastern rhythms meet hip-hop, electronic music and global influences.

Inspired by legendary voices such as Umm Kulthum and Abdel Halim Hafez, the Al Wahab brothers have created a sound deeply rooted in Arabic musical traditions while embracing contemporary production techniques. Joined by a collective of musicians and performers, Aïwa combines vocals, saxophone, flute, guitar, drums, turntablism and traditional Middle Eastern percussion into a rich and expressive sonic palette.

Since the international release of its debut album in 2003, Aïwa has continued to explore music as a dialogue between cultures. The collective has built a strong reputation both in the studio and on stage, notably through acclaimed performances at the Trans Musicales festival in Rennes, where live music and visual creation come together.

Through every composition, Aïwa celebrates the meeting of East and West, tradition and modernity, creating immersive, cinematic music that transcends cultural boundaries.
