Chris Carter contacted me out of the blue and the first time I listened to his band MIND POOL from Cape Town, South Africa I immediately thought, why aren't these guys headlining rock festivals or selling out concerts in mega stadiums around the world? For me, they are the most righteous millennial continuation of what grunge did for rock history in the 90s. I'm so blown away by this band, who have been described as a "hypnotic aural trip" (New Musical Express), consisting of "hazy, psychedelic melody, gorgeous, temperate rhythm and incredible guitar work." (Howl & Echoes) So just sit back, put your best headphones on and let these psychedelic waves of radiant rock wash over you.

The countdown to liftoff. Excitement and fear in equal measure. The ignition, the crushing ascent to escape velocity and the slow release of weightlessness. Driving riffs, a multitude of layered psychedelic guitar interludes and trippy fx exuding the calm, cool and mystical of space.
Golden Heart
We know each other so well, it's getting harder to remember where one ends and the other begins. It feels a bit like going insane, but maybe in a good way. Is this a tragedy about to happen? Melodic and melancholic rock anthem with dreamy rockstar vocals, extra large & extra raw electric riffs, airy synths and a smashing drummer keeping it all together.
Lacuna
That trip was pretty far out, man. I lost control for a while there. Am I awake or still dreaming? Big, bold distorted electric guitars & pounding drums evolve into alternative psychedelic rock with illuminating rockstar vocals and an attitude that doesn't even have to try to be cool.

A little older, a little wiser. Nothing is permanent, but there's power in being able to go it alone. Teen anguish and rebellion flowing lightly into psychedelic guitars, ethereal synths & hypnotic rockstar vocals in a garage somewhere in Capetown suburbia. Deep and grungy.

Millenial angst, but also hope. Looking for a sense of purpose. I must be worth more than this. Trippy psychedelic guitars, pulsing bass, smashing drums & crashing cymbals pave the way for silky smooth rockstar vocals & harmonies. An epic headbanging climax unfolds with gritty distorted guitars, angelic vocals & orbiting outer space sound fx.
Trouble Myself
Sometimes the odds seem stacked against me, so what's the point in even trying? But looking at the bigger picture, that's a bit pathetic - my insecurity is causing most of my problems. It's kind of funny when you think about it. A psychedelic flashback. Laid back, layered guitars, a funky Wurlitzer, steady beat & dreamy rockstar vocals philosophizing about the big stuff in life.
Damage Control
Can anybody fly this thing? We're heading for trouble, but it's one hell of a ride. Raw guitar and a cool bass jam crash into a rockin' retro surf & spy action thriller movie chase scene. Righteous and ready to risk it all in the name of the law. Whoever and whatever that may be.
